There is probably a conflict between two parts of yourself: for example, conscience (represented by an ‘overdog’ figure) and an instinctive desire (represented by an ‘underdog’ figure). ‘Overdog’ and ‘underdog5 are associated with Fritz Peris, who would have recommended Gestalt group therapy. You might try the DIY dialogue technique, using two chairs and moving from one to the other as you play the role of each antagonist in turn, with a view to resolving the conflict - instead of just brushing it under the carpet again.
