1- To have a dream which is set in history such as in the Elizabethan or Victorian times is to link with our past feelings and with that part of ourselves which has passed into history. It links with the person we were at some previous time in our lives and perhaps links with outdated beliefs and ways of liv ing.
2- The human being continually assesses both their, and the historic, past. History is perhaps an objective assessment of a subjective way of being. Sometimes to dream in this way is to dream of the person we might have been.
3- Old beliefs and life patterns need to be considered in the light of present knowledge.
[1]In some dreams we find ourselves in the past, with the feeling of those times. This nearly always depicts, not a past life, but our own feelings. So a cowboy scene might depict our pioneering spirit or sense of adventure. We need to define what feelings we derive from reading about or seeing films about such periods of history. Also our past; the person we were at some period in our life.
