Universal Landscape: Unknown sources of joy.
Dreaming Lens: Were you given a gift in your dream? Were you the recipient of one? Was there a gift exchange? Was the gift wrapped? Did you know what it was? Did you know the other party in the exchange? How did you feel about what was given to you?
Personal Focus: In most cases, the part of receiving a gift that has the most charge to it is the element of surprise. It is general practice to keep the gift a mystery, even to the extent of putting an obstacle in the path of the recipient in the form of a box and/or wrapping paper. This speaks to the metaphorical gifts that life can bring us. We don’t know what the gift from a difficult situation is going to be until after we unwrap it. Examine your current situations to see if there is something new in your life that may not have appeared so initially, but is actually a gift.
While often associated with events that merit them, the giving and receiving of a gift speaks more about the relationship between the two parties than the reason for the giving. If your dream includes another person involved in a gift exchange, examine him or her as a Character.
Aspect that is highly beneficial to you at this time. This is so whether you are the giver or the receiver in your dream.
Gift exchanges can be so charged with elation that many people are motivated to gift others in order to experience this elevated feeling. If the dream reflects this perspective, look for places in your life that might be in need of an injection of joy.
If there was any mystery surrounding the gift in your dream, the unknown factor points to areas in your life that may be offering you gifts, the value of which is not yet known. Your unconscious mind will always know well in advance of your conscious mind when a seemingly challenging situation is really a gift. This symbol in a dream may be the first sign that something of value is on the horizon, even if it isn’t yet apparent.
[1]Could the gift represent a creative talent or skill you aren’t expressing in waking life? If you were given a gift of an expensive box of oil paints, for example, could this be encouraging you to make use of your artistic talent?
[2]For an unmarried woman to dream that she is given expensive and beautiful gifts is a sign that her marriage will be a fortunate one both in worldly goods and in happiness.
[3]Symbolic of the love of Christ, Eph. 4:8
[4]To dream you have any thing given to you, is a sign that some good is about to happen to you. It also denotes that a speedy marriage will take place between you and your sweetheart. To dream you have given anything awav, is the forerunner of adversity; and in love, denotes sickness and inconstancy in your sweetheart or partner.
