Psychologically, putrefaction is the destruction of mental debris that obstruct spiritual evolution. Putrefaction, then, transmits the idea of new life that comes after the decay. Do not forget that in order for something new to rise, a breakdown of the old is required. This dream may seem harrowing but it actually transmits high hopes to the protagonist.
[1]Psychological / emotional perspective: When something is decaying it is running out of energy.
For it to appear in dreams indicates we must be prepared to allow things to run their natural course. Putrefaction is when the process of decay has gone past the point of no return.
[2]Dreams of decay symbolize that you have allowed an aspect of your upkeep to slip. Perhaps you have allowed negative thoughts and/or behavior to fester. Your subconscious mind is alerting you take care of yourself and take the action necessary to bring you back into balance.
[3]Material aspects: In mundane terms, we have a situation in our lives – perhaps a work project or a relationship – that has come to a natural conclusion and does not need to be nurtured.
The experience we have gained, however, can be put to good use.
[4]Decay may symbolize the degradation of a situation. More positively, it represents the death of an old situation before rebirth into a new state. Other associations come from such common idioms as “rotten apple.” (See Also: Maggots).
[5]See Also: Demolition, Rubble, Ruins. Deceased
Vision: Seeing a deceased person: the person has your best interests at heart and wants to tell you something that will support you.
See Also: Death.
[6]Negative thinking; unhealthy parts of self. Talents and abilities wasting away through lack of use. Examine, clean up, awaken to own potential, change to positive.
[7]Decay in dreams is evidence of the natural cycle of life: growth, decline and regeneration. Out of decay comes new growth and knowledge.
[8]Whatever the nature of the decayed material, this dream is telling you that you’ve got some stormy weather ahead.
[9]The final result of gradual neglect, literally and spiritually
