Universal Landscape: Inability to see; fear of losing sight.
Dreaming Lens: Were you blind, or was there a blind character in your dream? Did the blindness interfere with your intent? Were other senses heightened? Were you fearful or panicked? If someone in your dream was blind, how did you interact with them?
Personal Focus: When blindness appears in a dream it takes on an almost literal connotation. Vision is our primary sense, and as sighted individuals, we experience the world primarily through what we see and rely very little on our other senses. More accurately, we use our other senses to guide our eyes to take in more information. As an example, upon hearing a noise, a typical response would be to turn toward it in order to see what produced it, rather than processing all of what our hearing could tell us. Given the importance we place upon vision, the loss or lack of it is considered catastrophic for most people. However, most blind persons will confirm that their other senses offer a very full picture of the world in which they live.
By dreaming of the inability to see, you may be expressing areas in your life that you may be blind to. If a Character Aspect in your dream is blind, you must first determine what part of you they represent. Different parts of us connect to different ways in which we operate in the world. If one of these areas is lacking vision, you may need to rely on your intuition in order to be successful in that area. If the blind person is someone you know, what they represent in your own personality may be the part of you that is not seeing the truth in some matter. You may be dreaming of a situation in your life, or your personality, where you have a blind spot. You may have to go beyond what the eyes can see in a situation to determine how to respond authentically.
We also use the term vision to express where we see our lives heading in terms of goals and desires. If you are experiencing a loss of vision in your dream, you may be expressing unconscious fears of being unable to see what is coming next in your life.
Consider that the blind person represents limited sight but also the increase of other senses, especially intuition. Being unable to see exactly how things are going to manifest is often the very ingredient necessary for them to do so. Blind faith is one of the most powerful energies there is.
