Universal Landscape: Diminished capacity or ability.
Dreaming Lens: What part of the body was amputated or missing? Was it missing from your body? Was the dream about someone you know? What was the impact of the missing limb? How was the limb lost? Did the amputation occur in the dream itself?
Personal Focus: Our limbs are what give us mobility and the dexterity with which to create, all of which are impacted in some way when we lose one of them. Whether it is as significant as an entire arm or leg, or just the smallest finger or toe, the appearance of a missing limb or amputation in a dream is reflecting some sort of invasion of your ability to navigate through life.
The organic usage of the limb is the key to the beginning of your interpretation. Something disconnected from the lower half of your body relates to mobility, while amputation on the upper half has to do with creativity. Arms can also connect to protection and aggression and the inability to defend yourself in some area of life. Hands are the most creative element, and a missing one—especially your dominant one—is about limitations in expression and productivity. Fingers provide us with dexterity, and missing one relates to limitations of skill. As feet transport us, missing one or both relates to an inability to be grounded on your path, whereas missing an entire leg or both legs connects to being completely stopped on your path. A missing toe could point to an impediment to balance. Losing your head could point to an eradication of a thought process, or to your sense of identity.
All of these interpretations shift slightly if you are witnessing someone else in the dream lose a limb. If this is the case, you must apply the limitation to the Character Aspect of that person, as they live within you.
